Venture Workspace

Get ready to ask for funding

Put your venture in one place and print a Fundraising Pack: what you are asking for, whether the venture pays with and without grants, what backs it, and what is not in place yet.

It is optional. You do not need it to check your costs or to prepare for a buyer. It fills itself from the tools you have used, so you do not type anything twice.

Private by default

  • Everything you enter stays in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to Seaweed Economy, nothing is saved on our website, and no one else can see it.
  • Like most websites, we count visits to each page. That count never includes anything you type.
  • To keep a copy or move to another computer, save your venture as a file. The file stays with you.
  • Clearing your browser data or using a private window removes it, so save a file from time to time.
  • When you print or share a report, you decide what goes in it and who receives it.
What else it does

Clear first steps for new ventures

Starting a seaweed business means supply, rules, numbers and buyers all at once. The Workspace puts them in order and ticks each step off as you go.

Fills itself from the tools

Results from the Builder, the calculators, the Regulatory Pathway Navigator and the Readiness Assessment appear here, with the tool and date they came from. You do not type anything twice.

Names what is holding you back

Seaweed supply, regulation and economics are critical gates. If one is weak, the Workspace says so plainly, however strong the rest looks.

Fits your part of the value chain

Hatcheries, farms, wild harvesters, processors and product makers face different questions. Tell it what you do and the questions and suggested tools match.

Turns gaps into a plan

Record your evidence, the drying, storage and processing you depend on, and milestones with owners, dates and costs.

Prepares you to ask for funding

See which kinds of funding fit where you are, from research support and grants to buyer-backed pilots, equipment loans and investors, and why.

It works at every stage: the first steps in order when you are starting out, the gaps to close before you sell, and what growth needs when you are scaling. See an example venture.

What it is not

The Workspace does not certify, approve or rank ventures, and no result in it means a venture is ready for investment. Ratings and evidence are your own assessment. It is a preparation tool, not financial, legal or regulatory advice. Read how it works.

For funders and programs

The Workspace is built for ventures, so that what they bring you is consistent, based on evidence, and honest about its gaps.

A report in the same shape for every venture

Ventures can share a Workspace report: readiness across ten areas, evidence with what it shows and what it does not, the infrastructure they depend on, a costed milestone plan and their use of funds. The structure is the same for every venture. It sets out what the venture entered and rated itself; Seaweed Economy does not check it.

A method you can check

The rules are public and plain. Critical gates need evidence, nothing is scored or certified, and each kind of funding is judged on its own, with the reasons shown.

Cohort views, with consent

For programs supporting several ventures, we are exploring an aggregate view of shared gaps, gates and infrastructure needs, with no names, figures or evidence. It is not available yet.

Running a program or funding seaweed ventures? We are looking for partners to pilot the Workspace with a cohort.
