Seaweed Economy
About
What Seaweed Economy is, what it covers, and who it is for.
What Seaweed Economy is
Seaweed Economy is an economics and business resource for the seaweed sector. It brings together what has been published on seaweed prices, costs and buyers, with practical tools and guides for markets, funding and regulation. It is also a place for people in the sector to find each other: builders, creative practitioners, researchers, advisors and funders.
How coverage is framed
Prices, costs and buyers are gathered for Canada and the United States first. Guides to regulation and funding are written for Canada. Every figure shows where it comes from and when. Where no figure has been published, we say so. Examples and new ideas come from wherever the sector is most advanced, including Europe and Asia.
Who can join
Anyone working with seaweed, in any country. Builders, creative practitioners, researchers, advisors and funders can add a profile, say what they are looking for and what they can offer, and connect with people in Canada and beyond.
How to use it
Check what seaweed sells for and what it costs to produce. Find out why a business is not making money and what would change it. Plan a product, keep your venture's work in one place in the Workspace, prepare for buyers and funders, find partners, and decide when direct advisory support would help.
Want to connect?
If you are working on a seaweed project, building a venture, or trying to understand where you fit, start with a short note, or add your profile so others can find you.
